I have been a user of EyeTV for many years to mainly stream TV from my Mac Mini (only used for EyeTV and to occasionally but not simultaneously stream to my Samsung HDTV) to my iPhone and iPad when Im on the road. I had tried the first generation Singbox but returned it for refund due to compatibility issues with Apple products and that companys total disregard at the time to the Apple segment of the market. I then bought the EyeTV Hybrid which was billed as more Mac-friendly and at first it was pretty reliable. Not the greatest picture and sometimes a little choppy but it was watchable and I could maybe attribute that to bandwidth and interference issues. But as the years have gone by the device and mainly its software have become more and more unstable. The device worked adequately for my needs until a mandated software update a couple of years ago unleashed a series of problems. Its been wonky ever since. There are glitches, crashes and hangups (failure to recognize software updates and loss of functionality) that make it far less than reliable and a nuisance to use. The application no longer launches properly and it is unstable after launch. The application has to be restarted multiple times per day and you have to painstakingly walk through the process each and every time. There is very little remote connectivity any more. Is the device an older model? Sure. Could some of the problems be caused by Apple updates? Absolutely! Support and connectivity for various Apple phones and laptops has been dropped over the years and it seems as if no fixes are being written any longer to help the Hybrid work with any device. Is the answer to buy a newer EyeTV device that is more compatible with my iPhone, iPad, MacBook? Probably. But at this time my experience with EyeTV is irreparably damaged and I cannot recommend the device or the company.
