• Browse the Electronic Program Guide and view detailed information
• Start recordings back home on your Mac immediately or schedule them to record later
• View and edit your recording schedules in the recording list

Easy Setup
There is no need to reconfigure your local Wi-Fi network. Simply activate the option "iPhone/iPad Sharing" in the EyeTV preferences. Sometimes, fully automatic configuration may not be possible outside of your local network. Please see www.geniatech.eu for details.
If you’re using the OS X firewall, be sure to allow incoming connections for both EyeTV and EyeConnect. EyeTV uses port 2170. If that doesn’t let you connect, try turning off the firewall and turning it back on again.

Pros and cons of EyeTV app for iPhone and iPad

EyeTV app good for

Using this app with ipads and a netstream 4sat is a TV watchers dream come true. It worked from the start with no fuss at all, dealing with two satellites and three devices in SD and HD. Recording and timeshift just works. I wish our swanky Samsung TV was that good!
I have used this app for about eight months now and it has worked great. I usually use it via wifi (b/c I have a iPod touch) but can also say I had no issues via 3G with my wifes iPhone. The quality over 3G was not as good as wifi but it was still good enough for watching the Play-offs (NHL) while waiting in line at a concert. The interface could be a bit better, but all in all this app is well worth the asking price.
This app works like magic! Just think about where the technology is? This is allowing you to take live tv with you wherever you have you wi-Fi access: patio, garage, armchair, toilet :-). Pretty impressive for $5.
Ive only done this using wi-fi, so cant speak on G3. It took me about ten minutes to get it working. Youll want to use the online help to make sure you get all the settings correct. Check your Internet sharing, FireWire, and the settings in EyeTV on your Mac. And once you have them all set, restart your computer. Once I did that, it worked great for streaming live TV. No lags or problems with the sound. And no crashes (so far).
The application works well, but it took a bit of playing around, like updating EyeTV on the Mac, going to the EyeTV IPOD setup, ensuring youre firewall does have both EyeTV and EyeTV Connect flows open... So, it may not be plug and play for all, but theres good documentation to support. At the end of it, it works very well. So, good job Elgato, now go build better tuners which less sensitivities to noise and static.
I have the EyeTV tuner (the hybrid, the 250 plus and the HD tuner all from elgato) and I use all three on my mac with the software. I have set the favorite stations to access the channels quicker on my iphone using the app. The app runs slower on the 3G network but runs excellent on wifi with little streaming problems on the HD channels. I watched the hockey game on the iphone at a wedding the other night while I was chatting with the guys and they were amazed at the picture quality. I really like this app. It is finicky though and novice users will not rate it as 5 stars. I got all three tuners working with the software on my mac and the company does not support this. There are some minor issues with setting recordings but I am working through them. This app is great once you know how to set the streaming. This can take some time and a learning curve that some will find highly annoying. I like my tech and am used to trouble shooting. Once it runs though, its really nice and its a great conversation piece. Imagine 6 guys in suits watching a hockey game on the iphone at a wedding during the down time before dinner. Glad none of the women wanted to know what we were doing.

Some bad moments

hd channels dont work what is desktop EyeTV problem since version 3.5.5. time-shifting isnt available. conversion on-the-fly not possible. changing audio tracks not available. crashes since ios 8.3.
This app/hardware is almost completely useless under this version, Seems to be a 100% glitch, I cant seem to see or recreate any kind of circumstances were it crashes with the "insufficient bandwidth to play video". If viewing the buffer during a crash its up around 75% still, but it crashes. Always can be restarted right away too. Otherwise this would be the sickest app/hardware for the iphone. Quality looks great WHEN it works.
This app used to work beautifully - now it crashes on launch. Restarting iPad doesnt help. Nothing on Elgatos site - very disappointing for a $5 app.
I was shocked to find that I could not use the app as a remote. Seems like am obvious feature and I was really disappointed to not find it there. I do hope it is added soon.
It doesnt tell you that you to work the program you need to buy additional software for your Mac to turn it into a server, unfortunately for me I had already downloaded the app when I figured this out, the software costs $80... so thats $5 dollars well wasted that Ill never see again
Ive been using EyeTV on my Mac since 2006 and I love that application. I was trilled when I saw that I could watch my favorite recordings on my iPhone while out of my house. However after installing this App. I am really disappointed. Live TV is absolutely awful keeps freezing every 2 seconds and recordings are freezing also, not as much as Live TV but very often. I was not able to watch one single full program recording. I dont recommend this application to nobody. Its a waste of money.
